Canine Fitness and Conditioning

I am currently completing the Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer (CPCFT) course, having finished all academic coursework and continuing to complete the practical case study and final exam components. While these formal certification steps take time, my background in canine structure, anatomy, and the relationship between pain, posture, and behavior already informs much of my work.

Canine fitness focuses on improving strength, balance, mobility, endurance, and proprioception through individualized exercise plans tailored to each dog’s unique body and lifestyle. These principles are gradually incorporated into my training and behavior services as appropriate, and full fitness programs will be available once certification is complete.

Whether you are a pet parent concerned about your dog’s movement or posture, a veterinary professional seeking collaboration on a supportive fitness plan, or a sport dog handler looking to promote longevity and performance, these concepts can help guide our conversations and observations now, creating a strong foundation for formal conditioning sessions in the future.

Examples of how canine fitness supports dogs:

For behavioral clients: builds body awareness and confidence while fostering connection through low-pressure, cooperative work.

For sport or working dogs: supports proper muscle development, balance, and strength for injury prevention and longevity.

For dogs with possible structural discomfort or asymmetry: I can offer informed observations and identify patterns that may help your vet, chiropractor, or rehab professional make more precise assessments.

This evolving area of my practice reflects my belief that how a dog feels physically shapes how they behave emotionally, and that understanding both is essential to whole-dog wellbeing.

Private Events/Services

• Family Paws Parent Education™ presentations or collaborations for birth and family professionals

• Lunch N’ Learn professional development for veterinary staff, shelters, daycare centers, groomers, pet-sitters, etc.

• assistance in pet sitter and dog walker research and interviewing

• private group classes: there may be a time where I have several clients with the same goals and this can be safely arranged where we can practice around others with similar goals

• event attendance and assisted supervision (like wedding ceremonies) for current clients only

• office hours for current clients who’d like to be present alongside each other while discussing the topic of the month

Dog Training and Behavior Consulting in Ocean County and Middlesex County
New Jersey Service area map highlighting Jackson and Edison

Service Area and How I Work

I highlighted Jackson and Edison because I travel between these two areas often, which naturally gives me a wide range for in-home sessions. These points show where I am usually coming from, not where I am limited to. I work with clients both within and outside these areas, and the structure below helps keep that possible and sustainable:

  • Every case starts virtually so I can understand your dog’s history, your routines, and the concerns you want to focus on, and so I can learn who you are as a learner too. This helps me tailor how I explain things, what I prioritize, and how I support you moving forward. Take a look at my FAQs page for more info.

  • We build the plan ahead of time. The virtual session gives us space to clarify goals, outline next steps, and create backup options before any in-person work happens. It’s the best way to make the most of our time together and allocate resources and energy properly.

  • On-site sessions stay focused. Because the groundwork is already done, our time in person can be used for observation, coaching, and practicing the skills that make the most sense for you and your dog.

  • Travel is intentional. Since I regularly move between the Jackson and Edison areas, I can usually accommodate a wide range of locations. I plan travel in a way that leaves enough time for preparation, driving, and proper follow-up.

  • You are not excluded if you are outside the highlighted areas. They simply represent my common routes. If you are unsure whether I can travel to you, please reach out or mention it when we meet virtually. I can often make it work.

  • In-person work is taken seriously. I do not rush travel, planning, or session design. The preparation we do beforehand is what allows in-home sessions to be productive for both you and your dog.

This structure keeps sessions organized, efficient, and supportive, no matter where you are located.
