Certified Dog Trainer, Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, Licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, and Family Dog Mediator
I’m here to be who you and your dog need, whether that’s a trainer, a behavior consultant, an educator, a guide, or simply someone who listens and understands. I show up with knowledge, patience, a genuine commitment, and some humor, to help you build a life with your dog that actually feels doable.
My approach is built on compassion and education, and in the belief that with the right oversight, things can begin to make sense and move in the right direction. I’ve seen families at their most uncertain, in moments of frustration, heartbreak, and doubt, and I’ve also seen what happens when understanding grows and small steps begin to add up.
We can do better for our dogs, but it’s hard to do it alone. Many people need time and information, as well as continued guidance, to make sense of it all. That’s where I come in: to walk beside you, to help you build on your own strengths, and to give you the tools and perspective you need so that, in time, you feel confident leading the way.
My goal is not only to improve your dog’s behavior, but to help you develop the awareness and habits that make daily life smoother and more rewarding so in the end, you no longer need me!
Experience that covers many angles
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of dogs and just as many humans. Combined with my credentials and their applications, this has given me a well-rounded, practical understanding of both behavior and the actual challenges dog parents face.
Here’s what that looks like:
Group Classes: I’ve taught over 1,000 dog parents in group settings from puppy kindergarten and basic manners to behavior clinics, therapy dog prep, and specialty seminars.
Private Clients: I’ve supported hundreds of families through in-person and virtual sessions, helping them with everything from foundational training to complex behavioral concerns.
Drop-Off Day Training: I’ve worked hands-on with hundreds of dogs in structured environments, managing group dynamics, reducing stress, and fine-tuning behavior through daily, real-time input.
Thoughtful support shaped by hands-on training
In day training especially, I was responsible for creating calm, productive spaces where dogs could learn safely and successfully. That meant:
Managing dogs with varying needs in a shared space
Reading subtle body language in real time
Supporting staff and educating others on canine communication and safe handling
Reducing stress while reinforcing clear, consistent behavior patterns
Effective learning is limited when a dog or a person is overwhelmed. My role is to reduce pressure and create conditions that allow both to process and learn.
This taught me far more than any single method or system. It helped me develop a flexible, thoughtful approach that meets each dog-human team exactly where they are so we can work toward where they want to be.
What makes this ‘dog training’ approach different
You might notice that the process feels more detailed than you expected, but that’s intentional. That’s why my mission is so important to understand.
If you’re feeling burnt out or your dog seems stuck in a frustrating cycle, you’re not alone. I’ve worked with many families in this exact place. And what I’ve learned is that slowing down is how we start moving forward.
One of the most consistent realizations among my clients is that effective training begins by understanding the dog’s perspective. Teaching a dog how to live well in your home environment is very different from simply teaching behaviors. My goal is to bridge that gap: helping people build real-life skills, not just a list of behaviors to perform.
By taking the time to understand:
Your dog’s environment, stress levels, and triggers
Your household dynamics, routines, and challenges
Your emotional bandwidth, expectations, and patterns
...we can begin to break that negative feedback loop. From there, we build something more sustainable, more connected, and more empowering for both of you.
Progress over perfection because behavior is communication, and learning to understand that is the key to moving forward.
A Note from Me
Hi, I’m Polina. Thank you for taking the time to learn who I am and how I work. Everything on this site is written and developed by me so you have a clear understanding of the person guiding you through this process.
My focus is helping people make sense of their dog’s behavior by looking at the full context of daily life, communication, and individual needs. One of the most meaningful parts of this work is watching someone begin to see their dog’s behavior through a more accurate lens. That new vantage point often reveals what is actually behind the behavior and guides us toward informed, realistic adjustments.
Despite our long history with dogs, many of us still experience a deep disconnect. Communication and problem-solving are complex even between humans, let alone between species with very different languages, instincts, and needs. This gap often leads to frustration for both dogs and their humans.
Many people are working hard to improve their dog’s behavior with limited tools or outdated methods, and it’s natural to feel resistant when new science or compassionate approaches challenge old beliefs. Recognizing this resistance is the first step toward adopting more thoughtful, effective, and humane strategies.
It’s important to remember that dogs live in our human world, not the other way around. We have the responsibility to shape environments that encourage behaviors helping dogs thrive alongside us. When we approach training with empathy, clarity, and openness to change, we create space for a more meaningful, cooperative partnership that benefits both the human and dog.
